An anti-aging action plan for YOU!
No one likes looking older as they age… nor is it fun to feel older. But… as you mature, you begin to realize that you can’t turn back the clock… and you begin to notice that your body and mind are changing.
Some of these changes are good. Most people would only want to be younger if they could keep the wisdom they’ve accumulated as an older adult.
But some changes can be negative… such as sagging skin, dwindling energy, mental decline, and increased risk of disease. For many years, people thought of this as a natural part of aging.
But science tells us that it’s really not natural at all. In fact, a lot of the changes that take place with aging are actually caused or exacerbated by our lifestyle choices.
Having a plan to combat the appearance and effects of aging is a great idea. So is it time for you to develop an anti-aging action plan? Is it possible to rewind the clock?
An aging analysis…
Before you come up with an anti-aging plan, you need to know where your problem areas are. By conducting a regular health assessment with your health care practitioner, you can be informed and know what course of action you need to take to turn back the clock. Focus on the health of your:
____ Mental abilities
____ Strength and mobility
____ Sleep habits
____ Hormone levels
____ Vitamin levels
____ Stress level
____ Energy level
Your “growing younger” plan…
While you can’t literally turn back time, you can reverse many of the effects of aging by making some important changes in your lifestyle. You can reverse wrinkles with YOUTH Anti-Aging Skin Care, sharpen your mind with MindWorks, and strengthen areas of your body that are weak by using Shaklee Pure Performance products. If all of this suggests that Shaklee is on the cutting edge of anti-aging science, you’re right!
Of course, the sooner you make these changes, the better your health will be and the higher the amount of your youth you can restore. But it’s never too late to begin reversing the problems you’re experiencing.
What causes aging?
First, it’s important to understand some of the causes of aging. There are some genetic factors. For example, Alzheimer’s disease is known to have a genetic component. That means if someone in your immediate family has it, you may be more likely to get it.
But while genes are important to understand, they don’t control as much of the aging process as was once thought. We now know that the environment and lifestyle factors can play a huge role in how aging occurs.
For example, if you live in an urban area or an area with a lot of environmental pollution, you’ll find that you age faster. That’s because these toxins cause rapid oxidation of your cells, which causes aging.
And if you have a diet high in refined and processed foods, you’re actually putting toxins directly into your body. These toxins build up in the cells and cause inflammation.
When your body is inflamed, you’ll experience more rapid aging and health problems. The good news is that when you reverse inflammation, you can also reverse the problems caused by it.
Is it too late for me?
If you’re already experiencing these problems, you can make changes and reverse them… taking years off your appearance and your health.
But what if you’re not showing signs of aging yet? Don’t wait until you’re frustrated with the way you look and feel to make changes. By changing your lifestyle now, you can prevent problems and have less to worry about as you get older.
So… begin now… and start with… Shaklee!
The role of telomeres in the aging process…
Telomeres, which shorten with each cell division, help determine how fast your cells age and when they die, depending on how quickly they wear down. The extraordinary discovery about telomeres is that they can actually lengthen, proving that aging is a dynamic process that be accelerated or slowed, and in some aspects, even reversed.*
*From The Telomere Effect, by Elizabeth Blackburn, PhD and Elissa Epel, PhD. Dr. Blackburn won the Nobel Prize in Medicine for telomere research and is on Shaklee’s Scientific Advisory Committee.
Defining your youth-restoring action plan…
In order to formulate your “growing younger” action plan, you need to be able to spot specific signs of aging, understand the causes, and determine how you want to address them in your life.
One of the things that people fear most about aging is losing their mental acuity.
The good news is that there’s much you can do to enhance your memory and sharpness as you age. Even if you’re experiencing memory loss already, you can make some reversals.
Mental problems can be caused by:
♦♦ certain medications
♦♦ alcohol use
♦♦ vitamin B12 deficiency (take B-Complex)
♦♦ a thyroid imbalance
♦♦ dehydration (drink more Get Clean Water)
♦♦ depression (try MoodLift)
♦♦ stress (Stress Relief Complex works here)
♦♦ lack of sleep (you’ll love Gentle Sleep Complex)
♦♦ lack of exercise
Protecting your bones and joints
As you get older, your bones and joints can become weaker, leading to osteoporosis, bone fractures, and painful arthritis. Problems with bone density are more prevalent in women as a result of hormonal changes that occur during menopause.
Many people think that having bone and joint problems is just something you have to deal with as you get older… but it’s not an inevitable part of aging. In fact, there’s much you can do to reverse these issues and prevent them.
Exercise is probably the single most important habit you can develop to reverse bone loss and arthritis. Weight bearing exercise is a great way to increase bone density and swimming helps those with arthritis.
As you get older, calcium can leech from your bones and cause them to become weak. Calcium and magnesium supplements (OsteoMatrix and VitalMag) can help your bones become stronger.
Other suggestions are:
♦♦ maintain an ideal weight
♦♦ add omega-3s (OmegaGuard)
♦♦ maintain healthy connective collagen and cartilage by taking glucosamine, zinc, copper, manganese and vitamin C (Advanced Joint Health Complex)
♦♦ reduce inflammation (CarotoMax, Vivix)
There are several problems you can have with your eyes as you get older:
♦♦ Presbyopia… the loss of vision for close-up objects and fine print
♦♦ Cataracts… areas of the eye that become cloudy.
♦♦ Glaucoma… too much pressure within the eye.
♦♦ Retinal conditions, including macular degeneration.
To protect your eyesight, provide your body with good nutrition. Some important supplements are:
♦♦ Alfalfa Complex
♦♦ Organic Greens Booster
To start “growing younger”… begin here
If you want to rejuvenate your cells, you must first give them the vital nutrition they need. Without this first step, a cell cannot be revitalized.
____ Vita-Lea, Vitalizer or Life Strip
____ Energizing Soy Protein or Life Shake
Once you’ve covered the basics, add:
____ Vita-E Complex
Whatever you take, make sure it’s… Shaklee!

One of the most frustrating parts of aging is seeing the physical changes that begin to take place. Hair loss can be a major problem related to aging for both men and women.
Hair loss can be caused by many different things, including genetic factors.
Hair loss can also be a result of changes in hormones, drugs, injuries, illnesses, and cosmetic procedures that go wrong. Your diet may also affect your hair growth and loss. Once you understand the cause by consulting your health care practitioner, you can form a plan of action.
In addition to medical procedures and drug therapies, try using ProSanté from Shaklee to nourish your hair from the outside.
Improving your nutrition can often improve hair growth. Eating at least two or three servings of protein and four or five servings of dairy can greatly increase hair growth if you have a protein deficiency.
You may also find that Zinc and B-Complex (with biotin) can provide you with hair growth. Saw Palmetto Complex can help reverse hair loss for both men and women, and OmegaGuard can improve hair thickness as well as fingernail strength and luster when taken regularly.
ProSanté Nourishing Scalp Treatment includes 10 powerful vitamins, minerals, and herbs uniquely formulated to create an environment for optimal hair growth and health. Its residue-free formula is clinically proven to strengthen hair and thicken by reducing hair loss during combing. Soothes scalp irritation and protects scalp’s natural, healthful oil/moisture balance for healthier hair growth.
Nourishing Scalp Treatment can be used daily on wet or dry hair!
