“We are all constantly fighting a battle against disease, whether we realize it or not. It is the most important battle you have ever been in. Determine… NOW… to nourish your body properly and increase your strength and vitality, to raise your resistance against disease and prevent weakened cells from strangling the expression of your Life Force… which is HEALTH.“
~ Dr. Forrest C. Shaklee, Sr.
The best health insurance you can buy
In the midst of the current COVID controversy… regardless of whether you’ve chosen to “vax” or not… what is the best plan to build your health to its optimal level in the upcoming months?
Dr. Shaklee believed that your cells have the capability of detoxifying, repairing and defending themselves IF you flood them with plenty of food-sourced, unadulterated, minimally processed nutrients to do the job. Since it’s nearly impossible to obtain enough such nutrients by just eating, you must supplement! And since there’s such a huge disparity in the quality of supplements available today, it just makes sense to choose Shaklee… the most effective supplements in the world! Shaklee supplements… along with healthy lifestyle choices… provide the best possible insurance for your long-term well-being… staying healthy!
That means concentrating on your immune system first. Strong immunity is the key to avoiding declining health, disability, disease and premature death. it is your best chance to stay healthy in the face of any and all threats. The key is to start building super-immunity NOW!
The immune system…
Skin: Forms an effective barrier against pathogens.
Respiratory system: Cilia lining the airway move mucus and contaminants out of the body.
Stomach and intestines: Stomach acid kills most bacteria. Antibodies secreted by the intestinal cells attack pathogens.
Lymph nodes: Lymphocytes are cells of the immune system that recog-nize and destroy pathogens.
Spleen: Aids the body in fighting harmful bacteria.
White blood cells: Attack pathogens throughout the body.
How viruses make you sick…
Viruses are tiny microbes much smaller and very different from bacteria in that they cannot survive on their own. Viruses need to invade a living cell (a host) in order to live and grow. Once inside a host, viruses rapidly replicate themselves, burst their host cell and start infecting other cells around them. Once enough cells are infected, you begin experiencing symptoms like fever, cough, and sweating as the body tries to defend
How viruses spread…
Many (but not all) viruses are airborne and can pass from an infected person when they cough or sneeze. Other viruses are infectious only when a person has contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person… like the AIDS virus. However, some viruses are tough enough to live on room temperature surfaces (such as doorknobs, handrails or countertops) for up to 48 hours if the conditions are right for its survival. That’s why frequent handwashing is critical if you want to avoid viral infections.
Why viruses are so difficult to fight…
Some viruses can hide out in your body for years waiting for the right conditions to activate. A good example is the virus that causes shingles. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus… the same virus that causes chickenpox. After you’ve had chickenpox, the virus lies inactive in nerve tissue near your spinal cord and brain. Years later, the virus may reactivate as shingles.”
Viruses can also mutate very quickly, so as soon as scientists develop a new vaccine, a mutated resistant form of the virus often appears.
Many people think that taking an antibiotic can help when they have a virus, but antibiotics are only effective against bacterial infections, not viruses. In fact, taking an antibiotic for a viral infection may actually make your condition worse, as antibiotics kill off friendly bacteria that are an important component of your immune system.
Knowledge is power…
You need to educate yourself about viruses so that you can protect yourself and your family. That’s how you win the battle against anything… with the knowledge you need to keep yourself as safe as possible.
One of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from viral attacks is to strengthen your immunity as much as possible. Detoxifying your body, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, drinking plenty of fluids, eliminating stress, taking high-quality supplements and getting enough sleep are all important.
Your Shaklee arsenal against viral attacks…
When it comes to viruses, you want to be on the offensive. Don’t wait until you’re infected to try to build your immunity. Instead, it’s always best to strengthen your immune response long before you need it. Not only will you feel better because you’re staying healthy, but you’ll minimize stress.
One of the best preventative steps you can take is to stock up on supplements that boost your immune system. Start with foundational supplements like Vitalizer and/or Vita-Lea. Sustained Release Vita-C and Chewable Vita-C strengthen capillary walls to ward off any viral assaults. The vitamin D in Vita-D3 works with T cells, the body’s natural killer cells, to fight off infection and disease. The B vitamins in B-Complex, especially B5, B6, B12 and folate, all boost immune function.
Another very important supplement to have on hand is Zinc Complex. Zinc is the keystone molecule for immune proteins made in the thymus gland… no zinc, no immunity. In fact, zinc is one of the best mineral supplements to boost and balance out a tired and overstimulated immune system.

Battling winter colds…
Dr. Jamie McManus, MD FAAFP, Chairman, Medical Affairs, Health Sciences & Education, Shaklee Corporation, made this important statement when asked about the importance of vitamin D for immune health: “Maybe you should make sure you’re getting enough vitamin D. Intrigued by the recent studies suggesting vitamin D is a key immune system player, NIH researchers examined blood vitamin D levels in the US population to see if there was any relationship to frequency of colds. Sure enough, the higher the blood level of vitamin D, the lower the frequency of reported upper respiratory tract infections. Those with the lowest vitamin D levels had a 36% increased risk of catching a cold when compared to those with the highest levels. The link was even stronger in those with existing respiratory conditions. For example, asthmatics with the lowest vitamin D status were nearly six times as vulnerable to colds as those with the highest vitamin D blood levels.”
To make sure your vitamin D blood level stays in the optimal range this winter, take Vita-D3 every day. Backed by two Shaklee clinical studies and packed full of the “sunshine vitamin” in its most potent form, Vita-D3 raises the levels of vitamin D in your blood to support overall health, bone health, heart health, and immunity.
5 steps to bolster your immunity…
Stay hydrated. Healthy fluids such as Get Clean Water and Shaklee 180 Matcha, Pomegranate or Elderberry Tea not only transport nutrients to the illness site, but also flush out toxins.
Eliminate sugar. Refined sugar is a poison which, among other things, dramatically decreases immune function. Instead, use honey or stevia. Do not, however, use artificial sweeteners like Splenda or Equal; they are even more toxic than sugar!
Get enough sleep. Lack of adequate sleep depresses the immune system, opening the door to colds, upper-respiratory infections, and other illnesses. If you have insomnia, try Dream Serene and/or VitalMag to ensure you get a good night of rest.
Eat healthy foods often. Include plenty of fresh vegetables, and enjoy healthy snacks if you need them, so your blood sugar stays relatively even throughout the day. Your cells need calories to form antibodies to combat viruses. The nutrients found in whole fruits and vegetables can prevent illness.
Take a good probiotic. 80% of your immune system is located in your gut… trillions of beneficial bacteria to help you fight disease and absorb nutrients. Keep them healthy and flourishing with Optiflora DI.
The habit that instantly reduces your risk of infection…
One habit you’ll want to incorporate in your daily life is frequent handwashing. According to Dr. Jamie McManus, Chairman, Medical Affairs and Health Sciences & Education, Shaklee Corporation, “You don’t need antibacterial soaps; in fact, many experts are concerned that the widespread use of antibacterial products may contribute to the increasing prevalence of resistant bacteria that antibiotics do not work against! So, use plain ordinary soap, warm water, and wash your arms and wrists and lather up for 30 to 60 seconds before rinsing off. When handwashing is not possible, [Get Clean Hand Sanitizer] [is]… recommended.”
Time to try Get Clean Hand Wash Concentrate. This super mild, sudsy wash turns hand washing into a spa treatment. It has wheat germ oil and algae extract to moisturize; soy protein to condition; aloe, marshmallow (Althaea officinalis), and linden flower (Tilia cordata) extracts to soothe; and rosemary and arnica extracts to energize.

Clean hands save lives!
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “Handwashing is like a ‘do-it-yourself’ vaccine… it involves five simple and effective steps (think Wet, Lather, Scrub, Rinse, Dry) you can take to reduce the spread of diarrheal and respiratory illness so you can stay healthy. Regular handwashing, particularly before and after certain activities, is one of the best ways to remove germs, avoid getting sick, and prevent the spread of germs to others.”
